A tattoo is a type of artistic creation that remains in the body permanently. The design is done by piercing the skin with water and injecting ink, dyes and pigments into the deepest layer of the skin. The tattoos used to be done by hand, that is, the artist in charge of making the tattoo pricked the skin with a needle and injected the ink manually. Although this procedure is still used in some parts of the world, most tattoo professionals use machines to make them. A tattoo machine drives needles up and down while the ink is deposited inside the skin.
Tattoos, however fashionable they are today, are not something now. Their history dates back many years and are intimately linked to many civilizations and cultures. Each of these cultures interpreted in one way or another the meaning of tattoos and their transcendence.
Thus, while for some peoples the tattoos differentiated them from others and were a sign of identity, for other cultures they had an end more spirituality and more related to divine rituals. If you want to know more about the interesting history of tattoos and their relationship with each of the different cultures, keep reading and don’t lose any detail.
Tattoos Cultures In Ancient Egypt
Ancient Egypt is also one of those civilizations that arouses fascination and interest as time passes. Its art, its constructions, in short, all its culture, make this town a great attraction from the historical point of view. In addition, there are still many puzzles to be solved around this civilization, some of them related to tattoos. The Egyptians already handled tattoo techniques and used them regularly. Many of the mummies that have been discovered thousands of years later were wearing tattoos.
So it was very normal between them. This society thought that tattoos acted as talismans or protectors and that they had certain magical abilities. In addition, the Egyptians were a very spiritual people, so their tattoos were too. It was a way to “connect” with the divinities and also protect themselves on the road to the hereafter
Western World Tattoos Culture
For Western culture, tattoos are nowadays something accepted and normalized. In fact there are many people who are fanatic of everything related to ink, and it is not surprising, because the evolution of techniques and designs have made us currently have authentic artists in this tattoo. However, this has not always been the case. When tattoos appeared in the West they were rather related to the lower classes and even to criminals.
Then the sailors and the soldiers popularized it. And little by little it began to be something that belonged to the whole society. At present, the tattoo is a full-fledged artistic expression and a sign of identity. It has mainly ornamental purposes and there is no distinction between elders, youth, women and men. People who wear tattoos are of all classes and all ages, there is no distinction. That barrier has disappeared and society already sees the tattoo as what it is: art.
When making a new tattoo, there are many decisions you have to make and many factors that you have to think about. Tattoos Removal at Home
Many people really love their tattoos and keep them forever. But there are people who, after a few years, stop liking carrying that snake on their arm or that name of their former taxed on their chest. Then what? Laser treatment is the best option to remove a tattoo. The laser sends brief beams of light over the upper parts of the skin, directing the laser energy to specific pigments of the tattoo.
These pigment fragments are removed by scavenger cells of the immune system. Other less frequent ways of removing tattoos include dermabrasion, chemical peeling and surgery. Although there is talk of “removing” tattoos, completely removing a tattoo can be difficult, depending on factors such as skin type, how large and complex its design is and the types and colors of the inks that have been used to do so.
It may require several months of treatment, and the results cannot always be guaranteed. Treatment to remove a tattoo can cause darkening or lightening of the skin, and leave scars. The tattoo removal procedure can be expensive. It is best to consult a dermatologist specializing in tattoo removal to answer your questions.
